Help to Prepare Bishop’s Orders
The bishop may assign the Relief Society president to visit members who need welfare assistance, assist in assessing their needs, and prepare a bishop’s order for goods or services form for the bishop to review and sign. She normally completes the form in cooperation with the woman of the house after considering needs for food, clothing, health care, household furnishings and supplies, and social or emotional support.
The Relief Society president keeps strictly confidential any information she obtains during the visit.
"And the storehouse shall be kept by the consecrations of the church; and widows and orphans shall be provided for, as also the poor" (D&C 83:6).
