Employment When we have suitable employment, we are able to provide for ourselves, our families, and others by working as the Lord has commanded. Suitable employment also gives us opportunities to improve our talents and develop the divine attributes within us. We are happier if our employment suits our interests and abilities and meets our financial and other needs. The Church helps its members and others to find suitable employment, to prepare for and obtain better employment through education, and to make the most of self-employment through the Church employment program. There are presently more than 200 LDS employment resource centers throughout the world helping members and others to resolve employment needs, and the number is constantly increasing. You can learn more about how these services benefit you and others by going to LDS Employment Resource Services. "A man out of work is of special moment to the Church, because deprived of his inheritance, he is on trial as Job was on trialfor his integrity. . . . The Church cannot hope to save a man on Sunday if during the week it is a complacent witness to the crucifixion of his soul" ("Helping Others to Help Themselves," Church welfare pamphlet, 1945). |
