The words of Alma, a prophet from the Book of Mormon, describe Christians of his day: "They did not send away any who were naked, or that were hungry, or that were athirst, or that were sick. . . . Therefore they were liberal to all, both old and young, both bond and free, both male and female, whether out of the church or in the church, having no respect to persons as to those who stood in need" (the Book of Mormon, Alma 1:30).
Caring for others is the gospel of Jesus Christ in action. During the Savior’s ministry on earth, He set the pattern for all to follow. He healed the sick and comforted the sad of heart. We too should help those in need.
