The Slippers That Softened a Heart
A grandmother cared for nine children after their mother died. The grandmother was old and sick and did not know how she could clothe and feed the children. LDS Charities helped by providing food and shoes, including a new pair of slippers for the grandmother.

Even According to Their Faith
A couple from Nigeria came to the United States to further their education. They found it difficult to find work to support a growing family. Then they responded to an ad for a free copy of the Book of Mormon. Missionaries delivered the Book of Mormon, the family was introduced to the Church's employment program, the father found a new career, and eventually they were baptized.

In That Day Shall Thy Mouth Be Opened
Rosa left her abusive husband and moved with her children to Salt Lake City. She got a job at the LDS Humanitarian Center, took English classes, became a bilingual receptionist at the center, and eventually found a secretarial job with benefits.

Reports from Area Welfare Agents
The Welfare Executive Committee approved the establishment of area welfare agents to assist Area Presidencies. In four years, there were over 250 functioning international regional welfare committees. Excerpts from reports show the influence of area welfare agents.

The Milk Depot
In 1932 the Pioneer Stake presidency assigned the stake Relief Society presidency to contact dairies about donating milk for those in need. A home was chosen as a milk depot for the people to come for the milk. A kindness shown one little boy eventually led an entire family to join the Church.

If He Were Not Warmed
Church members responded to an invitation from the Presiding Bishopric to make and donate quilts to the LDS Humanitarian Center for Kosovo refugees. The goal was 30,000 quilts; at last count, more than 77,000 quilts have been donated.

From Corn to Computers
Raquel went to Salt Lake City from Mexico. She was hired at the LDS Humanitarian Center to sort clothing. At the center she took English and computer classes. After two years, she spoke English well enough to work as a receptionist.

Did Not Our Heart Burn within Us?
Five Korean journalists came to Salt Lake City for stories about the Church. A Church hosting couple took them on tours, but the journalists seemed cold and uninterested until they toured the LDS Humanitarian Center and Welfare Square and learned about the Church's welfare program.
