Question:

Where do Church welfare resources come from?

Answer:

The resources available to bishops to assist needy members all come as voluntary donations from members of the Church and others. They include:

 • The donated time, abilities, and efforts of charitable men, women, and children.
 • Material resources willingly given to the Church and to the needy.
 • Monetary donations to the fast-offering fund of the Church.
 • Monetary donations to the humanitarian service fund of the Church.

Of course, many of these resources pass direcly from givers to receivers and are never known to others. Those donated to the Church are accounted for by the bishop and he discerns how best to use them in caring for the needy. Because they are all available for the bishop's use, these combined resources are referred to as the Lord's storehouse.
