Question:

How can we make our welfare committees more effective?

Answer:

Welfare committees meet at the ward (branch), stake (district), and area levels. All committees have the same general purposes:

 • Identify needs
 • Make plans
 • Teach principles
 • Coordinate activities

Welfare committees are most effective if:

 • Meetings are calendared.
 • Committees meet regularly.
 • A portion of meeting time is devoted to training.
 • Participants counsel together.
 • Relief Society presidencies attend and are listened to.
 • Assignments are made and completed.
