A blind man worked at electronics assembly for relatively low pay. He wanted to have more challenging work with more responsibility and better pay. He got a job with a company assembling electrical wires in lighted advertising signs.
The employment center volunteers encouraged the man to ask for more responsibility. He was given more responsibility and enjoyed the improvement. However, he still wanted more. Three months later, the company provided him with a computer and adaptive equipment and suggested that the man learn to use it in his spare time. He did so and was promoted to sales, where he earns considerably more money and is happy with a more challenging assignment.
