Jackie was a single mother who had exhausted every avenue she could think of in looking for a job that would pay enough to support herself and her children. Finally, she came to the local LDS employment office to seek help. She seemed excited about the strategies and information she received, but when she didn't return, one of the employment missionaries called her at home to find out why she hadn't come back. "I'm going to have to put my job search on hold for a while," she told them. She had fallen down the stairs and had a cast around her leg. Sister Nye, one of the employment missionaries, volunteered to take Jackie to the doctor's office for a follow-up appointment. While there, Sister Nye noticed a job announcement at the receptionist's counter. She pointed out the announcement to Jackie, who shrugged and said, "What can I lose?" The following Monday, Jackie, cast and all, began work as an office assistant.
